Ailing persons pay Rs 750 thousand fare for airlifting to better health facility

Simkot, Jan 4 (RSS): Two persons suffering from ear and nose problems for some time were rescued by helicopter on Monday. They were Lamu Tamang, 50, and Paljor Tamang, 25, from Namkha Rural Municipality-4 from northern belt of Humla district.

Relative Rechhing Bahadur Lama informed that the ailing ones themselves managed the hefty fare of Rs 750 thousand to reach a better health facility as the treatment was not possible in the district. The heavy snowfall had added woes to them.

The helicopter was brought from Kathmandu. They are now in Kathmandu for the treatment, he added. The helicopter NA-AJR belonging to Summit Airlines rescued the sick ones.

The 50-year-old had been suffering from nose bleeding while the 25-year-old had ear problems. Two other attendants also accompanied the sick ones.

It is biting cold in the northern belt of Humla during winter. The health workers are not available all times. Road transportation is also not reliable.
So, the people there are bound to charter helicopter in health crisis. It takes some Rs 700 thousand to Rs 1 million for the people in the district to charter a helicopter.
